How the rotation works

  1. Set the players and courts. Each court takes four players, so the courts in use never go above the players divided by four.
  2. Each round, the players split into pairs, and two pairs meet on each court.
  3. Pairs change every round, so partners rotate. Where the group allows, no two players are paired twice.
  4. Sit-outs rotate too. No one sits out more than one more time than anyone else.
  5. Print the schedule, or start a mixer to play live. The mixer plans each round as you play, so it does not replay this schedule.

Frequently asked questions

How many players and courts does it handle?

It plans from 4 to 24 players on 1 to 6 courts. Each court takes four players, so the courts in use never go above the players divided by four.

How many rounds is a schedule?

By default it runs a full cycle: the rounds it takes for everyone to partner everyone else once, as far as the group size allows. The line under “Your schedule” gives the count for your group.

Why does someone sit out?

When there are more players than the courts can seat, the extra players sit out in turn. The tool spreads sit-outs so no one sits out more than one more time than anyone else.

What if a pair has to partner twice?

The tool avoids repeat partners wherever it can. If a pair must partner again, the summary under the schedule says so and gives the most times any pair partners.

What does Start a mixer do?

It opens quick play in mixer mode with your names filled in, and PickleCrew plans each round as you play. It does not replay this printed schedule. Starting a session needs a crew you run, so if you have none, PickleCrew asks you to create one first.

Are the names stored?

Names stay on this page and in the link you copy. Changing the schedule never sends them anywhere. They reach PickleCrew only when you start a mixer and press Start round 1.
